‘a’ for art

You expect to find me in those long galleries amidst tiny spots of paint,
in whom few find meaning
Or painted pairs of eyes that follow you across the room
Or on the stage in the graceful arch of the dancer’s foot as she pirouettes
Or in a writer’s words when he breaks your heart;
but you truly find me in the blind man’s thankful smile,
in the innocent eyes of the kid on the subway
And the lines you trace on your lover’s back pretending it was your canvas;
You find me, when you find love.

Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground. – Rumi
